Selected Monthly State Tax Collections
Please note that after the monthly release of March 2025 data on May 8th, 2025, Selected Monthly State Tax Collections data will no longer be updated. Users can still access state tax collections data quarterly and annually as a part of the Quarterly Summary of State & Local Tax Revenue (QTAX) and the Annual Survey of State Government Finances (ASFIN).
Monthly state tax collections provides data for the following sales taxes; general sales, lodging, alcoholic beverages, motor fuel, tobacco products as well as individual income and corporate income taxes. Data reported for a specific month generally represent sales taxes collected on sales made during the prior month.
Tax collections primarily rely on unaudited data collected from existing state reports or state data sources available from and posted on the Internet. Secondarily, states report the data via the Quarterly Survey of State and Local Tax Revenue.
